College Ave. Garden

When we first arrived in SC, we purchased a home with a yard of weeds.  The back yard was enclosed with an old wooden fence hiding a pool in the corner of the yard which was void a liner and blanketed with a shabby cover with holes.

Before moving here, I never quite appreciated the difference which climates make on decisions for gardening.  I always just loved flowers; I bought and planted them in my yard.  Obviously, I did not plan a design, just a novice gardener. Needless to say, I have had quite of few plants succumb to the heat.

As my garden grew, I realized the mistakes I had made from not carefully considering what I know I must have read on the tags.  This caused some plants to be hidden behind others or small ones enveloped by fast growing plants.   But I am just happy to see them alive!

It took awhile before starting to see progress out my back window.  Simple summertime pleasures are sitting on the back porch looking out over the plants which I lovingly chose as I  traversed every nursery within miles of my home.   As my garden grows, I plan to add and create with the plants which catch my eye this summer - hoping for success!
